CLARION, Pa. – Without dropping a game in singles action, 35th-ranked IUP women's tennis easily handled Clarion 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
RESULTS
The Crimson Hawks won all six singles matches by 6-0, 6-0 scores, as they earned their fourth straight victory to improve to 9-4 on the season. They're also a perfect 3-0 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division play.
Earning singles victories for IUP were
Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) at No. 1,
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) at No. 2,
Raquel Gonzalez (San Sebastian, Spain/Colegio Sagrado Corazon) at No. 3, Rach Wood at No. 4,
Sophie Butland (Taunton, Somerset, U.K./Bishop Fox's Community School) at No. 5, and
Mariana Valenzuela (Colombia/George Berkeley School) at No. 6.
Clarion (5-6, 0-2) did win two games in doubles action, with the Crimson Hawks winning by scores of 8-1 at No. 1 and No. 2, and 8-0 at No. 3. The 16th-ranked team of Petercakova and von Agris played at one, Gonzalez and Wood paired at two, and Butland and
Katya Minchenkova (Mytishchi, Russia/Secondary School No.12) played at three.
