WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks open their 2017 season with the Quality Inn Crimson Hawk Invitational this Thursday thru Saturday, August 31 – September 2. A total of 11 matches will take place at the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex (KCAC) and the Memoria Field House (MFH) on IUP's campus. Teams invited to compete are Clarion, Roberts Wesleyan, Ursuline, Daemen and sixth-ranked Palm Beach Atlantic.

*IUP is coming off of its most successful season in more than a decade, finishing 20-11 and earning a berth in the PSAC tournament for the first time since 2004
*The Crimson Hawks were picked to finish third in the talented and deep PSAC Southwest Division, earning three of the 16 possible first place votes; Clarion was picked to win the division with seven first place votes
*Sr. OH Natalie Cignetti (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) enters this weekend just 61 kills away from entering IUP's career top 10; With 814 in three seasons, she sits behind 10th place Elizabeth Sova (2011-14) with 875 and ninth place Danielle Ostendorf (2008-11) with 902
*Sr. OH Alexis Anderson (Cleveland, Ohio/Mayfield) enters this weekend 13th all-time at IUP with 679 career kills
*Jr. L Jess Marut (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) is another IUP player looking to move up in the record books, as she enters the weekend in fifth place with 1,202 career digs; She's 68 away from tying Hall of Famer Laura Hall (1999-02), who had 1,270 digs
