ERIE, Pa. – Senior
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) won the singles consolation championship yesterday as IUP women's tennis wrapped up three days at the 2017 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region Championships in Erie.
After a second round loss to Mercyhurst's Adrianna Jeffress, von Agris moved to the consolation bracket where she swept through the competition with four straight wins, including an 8-0 decision over Leandra Roekler of West Chester.

IUP RESULTS
It was a successful trip to Erie for von Agris, who teamed with
Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu) to finish as doubles championship bracket runners up. It marked the second time in program history a doubles team advanced to the championship match. The pairing went in as the number two seed, earning a first round bye before defeating teams from West Liberty (8-2) and Mercyhurst (9-7) to advance to the finals. Their championship defeat came to Charleston's Kristine Gegeshidze and Katie Swann.
Through two fall tournaments, von Agris is a combined 9-4, including a 5-2 doubles record and 4-2 singles mark.
Others tallying singles victories over the weekend were
Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu),
Maria Magraner Grau (Valencia, Spain/IES Jaume II el Just) and Flavia Flandoli. Magraner and
Mariana Valenzuela (Bogotá, Colombia/George Berkeley School) also earned a consolation doubles victory.

The Crimson Hawks return to action in two weeks when they compete in the 2017 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships in Bloomsburg. Those championships will run Saturday-Monday, September 30-October 2.
