INDIANA, Pa. – Sophomore
Allison Rife (York, Pa./Central York) had a team-best 10 kills and added three service aces as IUP women's volleyball returned home for the first time in nearly one month with a 3-0 win over Cheyney at the Memorial Field House on Friday.
Rife's 10 kills came on 18 attacks as she helped the Crimson Hawks hit .451 for the match to improve to 12-4 overall and 3-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). IUP cruised with scores of 25-11, 25-6 and 25-6.
Sophomore
Jessica Ignace (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) hit .545 with seven kills on 11 attacks, adding four aces and five digs. Freshman
Madison Burns (Fredricksburg, Va./Riverbend) had eight kills on 16 attacks, hitting .438.
The Crimson Hawks totaled 15 aces on the night, with freshman
Olivia Burns (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) matching Ignace's four, classmate
Dominica Niccolai (Pittsburgh, Pa./Montour) had two, and junior
Breanna Damiani (Seven Fields, Pa./Seneca Valley) and freshman
Shelby Miles (New Castle, Pa./Laurel) each had one. The 15 aces are the most for IUP in a match since recording 15 at Millersville back in 2014.
Niccolai assisted on 33 of the Crimson Hawks' 40 kills, and added three kills.
Olivia Burns (Clarion, Pa./Clarion) had a team-high 15 digs.
