Brandie Bryant scores twice, IUP Women’s Soccer posts shutout win over Millersville

INDIANA, Pa. – Senior midfielder Brandie Bryant (Essex, Md./Eastern Technical) scored two goals and freshman goalie Makenzie Witzel (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) saved four shots as IUP women's soccer defeated Millersville 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at South Campus Field.

The goals were the first two of the year for Bryant as the Crimson Hawks improved to 6-4 overall and 5-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC).

It was also Witzel's first career shutout, as she increased her season save percentage to .810 and her goals against average to .80.

The Crimson Hawks jumped on top of Millersville (3-5-2, 2-5-2 PSAC) with a pair of goals just two minutes apart in the 33rd and 35th minutes. Junior Gabriella Lonzo (Greensburg, Pa./Hempfield) opened the scoring before Bryant tacked on another one just moments later. Senior Lexie Palluconi (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) was credited with the assist on each goal.

Bryant then added an insurance goal in the 61st minute, this one assisted by senior Cassidy LeDonne (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional).

PSAC standings
The win kept the Crimson Hawks on pace in the mid-season conference playoff race with 15 points, one point back of Edinboro and Slippery Rock (16 points) for eighth place.
