Glover scores 32 points in IUP Men’s Basketball’s 89-82 win at Cal

CALIFORNIA, Pa. – Senior guard Anthony Glover, Jr. (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit) went off for 32 points to help lead IUP men's basketball to an 89-82 victory at California (Pa.) Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.

Glover finished 10-of-15 from the floor, including 6-of-10 from 3-point range, and went a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line in 32 minutes of work.

It was the third 30-point performance in the last six games for Glover, who is averaging 19.5 points per game this year. It was the fourth time he's made at least 10 field goals in a game and the third time he's drained at least six 3-pointers.

Glover was one of four Crimson Hawks to score double-figures as they improved to 13-5 overall and 9-2 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). The win helped IUP remain on top of the Western Division standings.

Junior forward Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) finished one rebound short of his ninth double-double of the year, posting 17 points and nine boards.

The Crimson Hawks got out to a hot start, scoring the game's first 13 points and followed that with a 20-4 run to take a commanding 33-7 lead after just eight minutes. The Vulcans (8-10, 4-8 PSAC) did manage to chip away at that lead over the next 12 minutes, as IUP took a 51-33 lead into halftime.

Cal continued to keep the game relatively close in the second half and used a late 13-1 run to close the gap to five points with just 1:45 left on the clock. Glover stopped the momentum with a bucket and foul shot, and Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) and Malik Miller (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) converted foul shots down the stretch to seal the victory.

The Crimson Hawks the ball over a season-low eight times while forcing Cal into 14 turnovers. IUP drained 13 3-pointers and took advantage of their trips to the foul line by going 20-of-30 at the charity stripe.

Lombardi finished with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists, and Blake Danielak (Georgetown, Tex./Liberty Hill) came off the bench to hit three 3-pointers and score 11 points in 17 minutes.
