WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
IUP women's volleyball (7-17, 3-8 PSAC) will host its final weekend of home matches against Kutztown (8-12, 2-9 PSAC) and East Stroudsburg (18-5, 8-3 PSAC). The Crimson Hawks will play Kutztown at 7 p.m. Friday and East Stroudsburg at 1 p.m.on Saturday. IUP split its matches last weekend, including a dramatic comeback five-set win over California (Pa.) Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Hawks are on the road for the remainder of the season after this weekend.
Senior day will be held on Saturday afternoon as the Crimson Hawks honor Sami Brown, Breanna Damiani and Jess Marut before their final home match.
NOTES
>> The Crimson Hawks have not lost to Kutztown or East Stroudsburg during coach Scott Pennewill's tenure here at IUP. IUP leads all-time series records with both teams including an undefeated record against East Stroudsburg.
>> Sophomore Madi Burns had a career-high 16 kills in the five-set win over California. Burns finished with 11 digs, two block assists and totaled 17 points. Junior Jessica Ignace also added 14 kills, three total blocks and totaled 16.0 points to help the Crimson Hawks overcome an 2-0 deficit on Saturday afternoon.
>> Defensively, IUP finished with a season-high 17 total blocks. Sophomore Shelby Miles led the way with a career high 9.0 total blocks with two solos and seven assists. Freshman Kylie Osborn had two solo and six assisted blocks for eight total blocks, tying her season-high.
>> The Crimson Hawks tallied eight aces against California. Sophomore Liv Burns led the way with four aces followed by Senior Breanna Damiani(two), sophomore Dominica Niccolai and freshman Lexi Hraga adding one each.
>> Senior Jess Marut is fifth in the PSAC and 37th in Division II with 5.38 digs per set. She has 2,126 career digs, 10th all-time in the conference.
