CLARION, Pa. – Freshman
Kylie Osborn and junior
Jessica Ignace each had 10 kills but Clarion clipped the Crimson Hawks in four sets Tuesday night at the Student Rec Center.
Osborn had a service ace and block assist for 11.5 points, her third straight match of double-digit points. Ignace hit .206 on the night and posted her fourth 10-kill performance in the last six matches.
The Golden Eagles won the first, third and fourth sets by scores of 25-21, 25-23 and 25-18 to sweep the season series. IUP won the second set 25-20.
It was the fifth straight loss for the Crimson Hawks, who dropped to 7-22 overall and 3-13 in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) play.
Despite an opening loss, IUP had its best offensive performance in the first set with 14 kills and a .222 hitting percentage. The Crimson Hawks hit positive each of the first three sets, and forced Clarion into nine hitting errors in their 25-20 set two victory, but a strong Golden Eagles offense was too much down the stretch.
IUP had eight service aces on the night, including three by freshman
Lexi Hraga and two from senior
Jess Marut. Marut also had 22 digs.
