THE WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
IUP women's tennis (0-0, 0-0 PSAC West) wraps up the fall portion of its schedule this weekend with a pair of home PSAC divisional crossover matches against East Stroudsburg and Bloomsburg. Match times are 3:30 against ESU Friday and 10 a.m. against the Huskies Saturday morning at the Maple Street Courts. This is the first dual of the year for IUP and Bloomsburg while ESU lost to Scranton 6-1 earlier in September.
NOTES
>> The Crimson Hawks are 10-1 in PSAC crossovers dating back to the 2010-11 season. Due to inclement weather in the past, they haven't played two crossover matches since the 2013-14 season when they swept Shippensburg (9-0) and Bloomsburg (8-1).
>> The 2013 fall win over Bloomsburg was IUP's last action against the Huskies in a dual. IUP las played East Stroudsburg in 2010, tallying a 9-0 win.
>> A new scoring change in Division II tennis this year is the move to awarding one point for doubles results. In the past, three points were awarded for each doubles match but now a single point will go to the team who takes the most doubles victories.
>> IUP defeated Kutztown 6-3 in last year's fall crossover dual. The three points for Kutztown were all given by default as the Crimson Hawks forfeited two singles and one doubles match.
>> Junior
Katya Minchenkova has a career record of 30-9 in dual matches, including a 14-4 mark at the No. 3 spot a season ago. Classmate
Mariana Valenzuela has a 22-7 career dual match record.
>> Minchenkova looks to continue her hot play as of late. She went 4-1 at the PSAC Individual Championships last weekend and finished as the singles runner-up.
>> Sophomore
Julia Newman had a team-best 10 tournament wins this fall.
