INDIANA, Pa. – In the first dual match of the season, the IUP women's tennis team easily defeated visiting East Stroudsburg 6-1 Friday afternoon at the Maple Street Courts.
The match was the first of two Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) crossovers for IUP this weekend as the Crimson Hawks wrap up their fall schedule with a pair of duals.

IUP was down two players, but still held the upper hand in the match despite giving away the No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles matches.
The Crimson Hawks took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2.
Julia Newman paired with
Thais Andreotti for a 6-1 win at the top spot, with
Mariana Valenzuela and
Maria Magraner winning by the same score.
In singles play, IUP players surrendered just five points in five matches, including 6-0, 6-0 wins by Andreotti at No. 2 and
Flavia Flandoli at No. 5. Valenzuela at No. 3 and Magraner at No. 4 each pulled in 6-1, 6-0 wins, while Newman slid up to the top spot and won 6-1, 6-2.

Valenzuela is the first IUP player to 20 combined wins, increasing her records to 10-3 in singles play and 10-3 in doubles this fall ….
