THE WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
No. 8 IUP men's basketball (0-0, 0-0 PSAC) opens its 2018-19 season with the IRMC/Hilton Garden Inn Classic November 9-10 at the Kovalchick Complex. The Crimson Hawks play Concord (0-0, 0-0 MEC) Friday before a top-25 showdown with No. 16 Virginia State (0-0, 0-0 CIAA) Saturday. Both games tip at 7:30 p.m.
TIPOFF NOTES
>> IUP had a good showing in its 86-64 exhibition loss at No. 2 Kentucky Friday night - the Crimson Hawks won the turnover battle (14-11) and trailed by just 5 points early in the second half.
>> Four players scored in double-figures against UK, with Sr. F
Jacobo Diaz getting a team-high 17 points.
>> Diaz is one of three returning starters from last year's 22-8 PSAC West regular season title team. Sr. G

>> IUP begins the season ranked No. 8 in the NABC Coaches Top 25 and No. 6 in the D2SIDA Top 25. It's the 10th straight year the Crimson Hawks begin the regular season in the top 25 rankings.
>> Diaz received preseason All-American recognition from Street & Smith's and Division II Bulletin. He was an honorable mention All-American and PSAC West Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2016 and enters his senior season with 1,153 points (23rd at IUP) and 803 rebounds (5th).
