INDIANA, Pa — Junior guard
Dante Lombardi (Indiana, Pa./The Kiski School) reached a career milestone of 1000-points, Saturday, as IUP men's basketball defeated Cal 82-75 during Make-A-Wish Night.
Lombardi scored a total of 19 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and going a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line. Dante became the 33rd player in IUP men's basketball history to record 1000-points and the third player to reach the milestone this season.
During halftime, IUP Athletics hosted a surprise wish reveal for 4-year-old Dane and raised $1,258 for the Make-A-Wish foundation.
With the win, the Crimson Hawks improved their record to 20-7 overall and 16-4 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). This is the 10th straight 20-win season for the program, having a 244-60 record over the 10 seasons.
The first half went back and forth before
Malik Miller (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) drained back-to-back 3-pointers, setting up an 11-0 scoring run over the Vulcans (10-16, 6-14).
Malik made his return after missing five games due to injury, going 4-of-5 from the field and 2-of-3 from 3-point range.
Malik was one of four Crimson Hawks to score in double-figures, along with Lombardi and junior forward
Jacobo Diaz (Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain/CBA Gran Canaria) and senior guard
Anthony Glover, Jr. (Toledo, Ohio/St. John's Jesuit)
Diaz scored a team-high 20 points, going 7-of-14 from the field and 6-of-7 from the foul line. Adding four rebounds and four assists during 38 minutes of work.
Glover had 19 points and grabbed six boards, scoring 17 of his points in the second half. He went 6-of-13 from the field, 3-of-6 from 3-point range and 4-of-5 from the foul line.
Cal came back from a 14-point deficit in the second half, tying the game with seven minutes remaining. IUP answered with a 14-0 scoring run, with Glover scoring 12 of those points.
IUP finished the night shooting 50 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the foul line.

The Crimson Hawks look to continue their win streak, Wednesday, Feb. 21, as they host Edinboro (16-8, 13-7) during Senior Night. The men's and women's doubleheader will be streamed on WatchESPN and the ESPN App. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
