The PSAC Champion Scholar Awards are modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award and honor the student-athlete with the top grade point average who is competing at the site of each of the PSAC's 23 team championship finals. The selection criteria for the Champion Scholar Awards is identical to that of the NCAA Elite 89 awards, which honor the student-athlete with the top GPA at each of the championship finals sites of the 90 NCAA championships across all three divisions – I, II, and III.
Hollen is working toward her degree in exercise science, boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA. She played in 11 games this season, averaging 3.5 points, 1.4 rebounds with 10 steals. Unfortunately, Hollen had her season end due to an injury on Jan. 8, against Slippery Rock.
Hollen represents IUP's 27th PSAC Champion Scholars and is the third straight IUP women's basketball player to receive the award (Marina Wareham, 2016;
Kendall Hunter (Burke, Va./Paul VI Catholic), 2017).
IUP boasts the most PSAC Champion Scholars of any school in the conference since the award came into existence during the 2011-2012 academic year. Hollen is the sixth IUP athlete to receive the honor this year, joining Sean Bowling, football; Allyson Dryer, cross country; Colter Long, swimming; Noah Mandel, track and field; and Jessica Jones, track and field.
