HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The 24th-ranked Crimson Hawks ended their trip to Spring Tennis Fest in Hilton Head with an 8-1 loss to Missouri-St. Louis Thursday afternoon.
The Crimson Hawks received their only win from
Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu) at the No. 3 singles spot as she rallied to defeat Kristine Lindal 3-6, 7-6, 10-5.
IUP falls to 6-3 overall on the season as the team looks forward to the start of conference play next week.
The top four singles matches went to three sets as the Crimson Hawks were on the verge of securing three more victories.
Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) lost 7-6, 2-6, 10-7 at No. 1,
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) fell 7-5, 4-6, 10-8 at No. 2, and
Julia Newman (Tauranga, New Zealand/Tauranga Girls' College) dropped a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 decision at No. 4.
Missouri-St. Louis (6-2), which is ranked seventh in the Midwest Region, won the three doubles matches by scores of 8-5, 8-2 and 8-5.

The Crimson Hawks return to Pennsylvania where they will play seven more matches before the month is over. Five of those matches will come at home, with four happening over a five-day period.
First up for IUP is its divisional opener at Slippery Rock Wednesday, March 21.
