HILTON HEAD, S.C. – IUP senior
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) broke the program's career singles victories record in the Crimson Hawks' 5-2 loss to Division I Bucknell Wednesday night.
Von Agris defeated Bucknell's Paige Leavy in a three-set thriller at the No. 2 spot by scores of 6-2, 6-7 (5), 10-7 to set the new record.
It's von Agris' 87th career singles victory as she passed Tanya Timko, who owned the record of 86 upon graduating in 2015. Timko was a two-time All-PSAC West Player of the Year. Von Agris now owns an 87-27 (.763) career singles record.
In addition to von Agris' win,
Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) defeated Lisa Jouravleva 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot.
The two also paired for an 8-5 win in doubles play. However, Bucknell won the second and third slots to take the doubles point.
