INDIANA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks won their third straight match Monday with an easy 9-0 victory over visiting West Liberty on the Maple Street Courts.
The win over the Hilltoppers represents the third over a top-10 regional opponent in the last four days, including East No. 2 Goldey-Beacom and Atlantic No. 10 West Chester.
RESULTS
The Crimson Hawks improved to 9-3 overall with the victory, giving up just seven combined points in the second through sixth singles spots.
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) at No. 2 and
Julia Newman (Tauranga, New Zealand/Tauranga Girls' College) at No. 5 each won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.
Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) defeated Thais Mendez 6-4, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot. Mendez entered the match with an undefeated mark at No. 1 for West Liberty.
In doubles play, the Crimson Hawks earned 8-0 victories from
Katya Minchenkova (Mytishchi, Russia/Secondary School No.12) and
Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu) at No. 2, and Newman and
Mariana Valenzuela (Bogotá, Colombia/George Berkeley School) at No. 3. Petercakova and von Agris toughed out an 8-6 victory at No. 1.
