IUP Women’s Tennis prepares for four matches in four days

AT A GLANCE
The Crimson Hawks gear up for four tough matches in a row, starting Thursday, April 12 as they travel to Edinboro to face-off against conference opponent Edinboro. Second match follows starting off with the first of three top teams, as IUP hosts the Mercyhurst Lakers, who currently rank third in the Atlantic Region Friday, at Maple Street Courts. IUP's concludes the stretch with its' last two matches on the road Saturday and Sunday in West Virginia, against Charleston (ranked fourth in the Atlantic Region) and West Virginia, who sit at second in the Atlantic Region. IUP women's tennis heads into their next four matches on a high note, as they picked up a 9-0 shutout victory against California at home on Senior Day.

MATCH NOTES
>> After Tuesday's win, the Crimson Hawks have a combined six shutout wins; four of those shutouts have been against conference opponents California, Clarion, Slippery Rock and Seton Hill
>> In doubles, Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) and Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) won 8-0 and each won their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores against California; Katya Minchenkova (Mytishchi, Russia/Secondary School No.12) and Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu) both won in singles matches, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively
>> IUP ranks first in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West; Merychurst follows behind in second with a 3-0 conference record; Bloomsburg leads the East with a 5-0 conference and 7-5 overall records
>>  These are IUP's last four matches of the regular season, as they approach post-season at the 2018 PSAC Tennis Championships; The four day event is scheduled for April 17-21 in Bloomsburg, Pa.
