ERIE, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks tallied their second straight shutout of the week with a 9-0 defeat of Edinboro Thursday afternoon at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie. The match was moved indoors due to high winds in the afternoon.
The dominant victory was also the seventh shutout for IUP this season. The Crimson Hawks are 14-5 overall and 5-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC). They haven't dropped a single point in any of their five divisional victories.
RESULTS
Luise von Agris (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany/Adalbet-Stifter-Gymnasium) tied the IUP career record with 103 doubles victories Thursday, pairing with
Jarka Petercakova (Bratislava, Slovakia/Sport Gymnasium) for an 8-1 win at one over Laura Lopez and Tatiana Batalla. Von Agris will look to break Tanya Timko's record and own all three (singles, doubles, combined) major program wins records.
She also extended her singles win streak to nine with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at two over Batalla.
Mariana Valenzuela (Bogotá, Colombia/George Berkeley School) also won 6-0, 6-0, defeating Payton Tomasko at six.
Also picking up singles wins were Peterckova at one,
Katya Minchenkova (Mytishchi, Russia/Secondary School No.12) at three,
Nicole Beidacki (Porto Alegre, Brazil/Colegio Sao Judas Tadeu) at four, and
Julia Newman (Tauranga, New Zealand/Tauranga Girls' College) at five. Minchenkova and Beidacki combined for a doubles win at two, and Newman and Valenzuela won at three.

The Crimson Hawks will play their biggest regular season match of the spring Friday when they host Mercyhurst (19-0, 4-0) at 2 p.m. The winner will clinch the PSAC Western Division regular season title and receive a quarterfinal bye in next week's conference tournament.
