INDIANA, Pa. –
Ted DeSanti (Erie, Pa./Erie Cathedral Prep) went a combined 4-for-5 with two extra base hits and four RBI, but the Crimson Hawks dropped both ends of a home doubleheader to Slippery Rock Saturday afternoon at Owen J. Dougherty Field.
Slippery Rock won by scores of 7-3 in game one and 13-4 in game two. IUP fell to 10-20 overall and 7-11 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) with the losses.
DeSanti had two hits and two RBI in each game, smashing a double and triple in game one. In his last six games, DeSanti has 14 hits, 16 RBI, and seven extra base hits.
In the opener, Slippery Rock (21-11, 14-4 PSAC West) scored five runs in the second, including two on a home run. The Crimson Hawks didn't get on the board until the sixth, scoring two on double by DeSanti and another on a single by
Chris Eisel (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin).
It was all Slippery Rock early in game two, blasting a grand slam in the first inning. The Rock went on to score six in the first, and seven more in the fourth thru sixth innings.
IUP scored two in the fourth on a single by DeSanti and two more in the fifth on a base hit by
Cory Wheeler (Butler, Pa./Butler).
