The No. 1 seed IUP women's tennis team (19-5, 6-0 PSAC West) earned the right to host the top half of the 2018 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region I Championships this weekend. Action starts Saturday with No. 4 seed Charleston (17-6, 7-1 MEC) taking on No. 5 seed Slippery Rock (13-12, 4-2 PSAC West) in the opening round. The winner advances to play the Crimson Hawks for the Atlantic Region I Championship Sunday at 1 p.m.

>> The Atlantic Region Championships are split into two sites, with No. 1 IUP hosting the top of the bracket and No. 2 West Virginia State (13-5, 8-0 MEC) hosting the bottom half; the winners of each part of the region advance to the NCAA Division II Championships in Surprise, Ariz. May 9-12
>> The Atlantic Region Championships are made up of seven teams, with IUP earning a first round bye as the top seed
>> The Crimson Hawks are looking to defend their first ever Atlantic Region title, defeating West Virginia State 5-0 last season
