LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Redshirt senior quarterback
Lenny Williams Jr. broke the program's career total touchdown record as he led third-ranked IUP football to a 59-17 blowout victory at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.
Williams passed former IUP quarterback great Brian Eyerman for the school record. Williams now has 89 career total touchdowns – 63 passing, 26 rushing – while Eyerman had 88 from 1999-2002.
Williams passed for three touchdowns and ran for one more – all in the first half – as IUP built a 42-3 lead through two quarters. It was the second straight blowout win for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 3-0 overall heading into the start of divisional play next week.
Williams finished 8-of-11 for 204 yards and those three touchdowns through the air, and rushed five times for 59 yards and a score. His scoring tosses went to junior receiver
Dom McNeil for 10 and 84 yards, and grad receiver
Ricky Rogers for 38 yards.
His scoring run was a 35-yarder at the start of the second quarter which gave the Crimson Hawks a 28-0 lead.
Junior running back
Samir Bullock ran for an 11-yard touchdown in the first quarter, which was sandwiched between the two Williams-to-McNeil scores.
Another running back, redshirt senior
Chris Temple, ran the ball in from 14 yards out with 1:31 left in the second quarter to cap the first half scoring for the Crimson Hawks.
Lock Haven (0-3) scored its first touchdown with 1:30 left in the third to make it a 42-10 game. The Crimson Hawks answered immediately, as junior
Dwine Walls returned the ensuing kickoff 58 yards to set up a 31-yard scoring toss from freshman QB
Javon Davis to junior receiver
Zac Kelly.
It was the first career touchdown pass and scoring catch for Davis and Kelly.
IUP added a 33-yard field goal from junior
Dillon Sarka and a 14-yard scoring toss from Davis to senior receiver
Miles Williamson in the fourth quarter as IUP finished out the victory.
