WEEKEND AT A GLANCE
IUP women's volleyball (6-11, 2-2 PSAC) will host a pair of PSAC Northwest teams in the Memorial Field House this weekend. The Crimson Hawks will face Mercyhurst Friday at 7 p.m. and Gannon Saturday at 1 p.m. The Crimson Hawks will look to keep their momentum going from their weekend road sweep at Bloomsburg and Lock Haven.
NOTES
>> In the three previous years under head coach Scott Pennewill, the Crimson Hawks have split their matches with Gannon (2-2) and are 1-3 against Mercyhurst. Last year IUP split its weekend trip to Erie, falling to Gannon in five sets before defeating the Lakers in four.
>> Senior libero Jess Marut hit a milestone last weekend, going over 2,000 career digs. She is only the second player in IUP history to do so and currently sits at second-all time. Marut is also 13th in PSAC history in career digs.
>> Marut ranks 29th in Division II with 300 total digs and is 37th in the nation at 5.36 digs per set.
>> Junior middle Jessica Ignace had a career-high with 15 kills in IUP's four-set win at Lock Haven. She also had four block assists which gave her 17.0 points, another career best. Ignace leads the team with 155.0 total points and 41 total blocks.
>> IUP had a combined 16 services aces last weekend at Bloomsburg and Lock Haven. Senior Breanna Damiani and sophomore Dominica Niccolai had three each in the match against Lock Haven.
>> Niccolai totaled 43 assists against Lock Haven, a season-high, and leads the teams in aces this season with 17.
