GLENVILLE, W.Va. – The IUP women's soccer team rebounded from Saturday's disappointing defeat to Bloomsburg with an emphatic 7-0 victory over Glenville State on Monday afternoon.
The seven-goal win is largest margin of victory in the past eight years for the Crimson Hawks (2-1, 1-1 PSAC). Freshman
Nikki Bowman led the way for the Crimson Hawks with two goals in the game.
Mahogany Willis,
Gianna Parlavecchio, Mckenna Keffel,
Gabrielle DeSousa, and
Kelly Kingerski also contributed to the win with a goal each. Senior
Kallie Conte was the main provider for the Crimson Hawks with three assists on the day.
On the defensive end goalkeeper
Maria Tunney picked up her first shut out of the season as the IUP defense limited the Pioneers to only three shots on goal in the game.
IUP got off to a fast start against the Glenville State notching seven shots in the first ten minutes of the match before finally making the breakthrough in the 16
th minute thanks to
Mahogany Willis's strike. Goals by
Gianna Parlavecchio and
McKenna Keffel in the 20
th and 30
th minutes ensured that the Crimson Hawks went into the halftime break with a comfortable lead.
A rapid-fire succession of three goals in less than three minutes at the beginning of the second half quickly put the result of the match out of doubt. Bowman's brace of goals in the 48
th and 51
st minutes sandwiched Junior
Gabrielle DeSousa's first goal of the season in the 49
th minute.
Kelly Kingerski rounded out the scoring for IUP in the 67
th minute with the first goal of her career.

The Crimson Hawks return to conference play in their home opener against Slippery Rock (2-0, 1-0 PSAC) on Wednesday afternoon. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the South Campus Field.
