Crimson Hawks look to turn it around on the road against PSAC Northwest opponents
IUP women's volleyball (5-15, 4-7 PSAC) travels to Slippery Rock for a Friday night matchup before heading to Clarion to take on the Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon to end the weekend. The Crimson Hawks are coming off a home weekend where they dropped two matches to Southwest Divison opponents, including a five-setter against Cal U on Saturday afternoon.
QUICK HITS
>> The Crimson Hawks are 3-2 against Slippery Rock over the last 5 years. Slippery Rock is coming in on a 9-match losing streak but boast a player in Abigail Johnson who's ranked 4th in the PSAC for blocks with 1.09 per set.
>> Clarion won its last match against IUP in 3 sets. The Golden Eagles are having another good year as they come into this weekend with a 14-9 record and second in their division at 6-5.
>> Julia Holden is having a terrific year for Clarion. She's currently ranked 1st for kills per set in the PSAC with 4.67. She finished with 16 kills and 4 blocks in thier last match.
>> IUP is coming off two tough division losses, though they played Cal U tough on Saturday dropping a five-setter. A couple of career highs were set in the match, with
Jessica Ignace and
Lizzie Virgin finishing with 19 and 17 kills, respectively.
>> Ignace led IUP with 30 kills and hit .283 last weekend. In addition to her career-high 19 kills against Cal U, she had 11 with a .348 hitting percentage in a three-set loss to Seton Hill Friday.
>> Virgin has hit double-digit kills in three of her last five matches overall, including that season-high 17 against the Vulcans. She's now third on the team behind
Nicole Peterson (224) and Ignace (125) with 124 kills.

Leah Henderson is coming off her best match of the year, recording 57 assists, 12 digs, seven kills and three total blocks in IUP's five-setter with Cal U. Henderson is averaging 9.6 assists per set over her last nine matches and is now 14th in the PSAC with 6.41.
>> The Crimson Hawks have three weekends and eight matches remaining in the season. They are currently just two games out of a possible playoff spot with most of the conference still alive for the eight PSAC tournament spots.
