Balanced scoring helps No. 16 Crimson Hawks to blowout Education Day win

INDIANA, Pa. – Sophomore guard Rajah Fink scored a game-high 16 points off the bench to lead five players in double-figures as the 16th-ranked IUP women's basketball team defeated Pitt-Bradford 87-32 Wednesday at the Kovalchick Complex.
 
An IUP women's basketball record 2,207 fans watched the Crimson Hawks post one of the best defensive efforts in program history. The 32 points allowed is tied for the fewest given up while the 55-point margin is the 11th best mark.
 
It was the sixth annual Education Day Game for the IUP program, with children from Eisenhower Elementary, North Star Central Elementary, St. Bernard Regional School, Windber Area High School and Middle Schools, Central Cambria Elementary, Seeds of Faith Christian Academy, Indiana County Catholic Homeschoolers, Horace Mann Elementary, Penns Manor High School and Homeschoolers for Christ Co-Op all coming to the KCAC for the 11 a.m. tipoff.
 
Fink finished 8-of-12 from the field to score her career-high 16 points in just 16 minutes of action. She dished out three assists and had two blocks, two steals and two rebounds.
 
Four others reached double-figures, including Natalie Myers and Justina Mascaro with 11 points each and Lexi Griggs and Courtney Alexander with 10 points apiece. In all, 11 of the 12 Crimson Hawks who saw action scored.
 
After shooting just under 44 percent in the first half, the Crimson Hawks shot nearly 59 percent in the second 20 minutes, converting 17-of-29 from the field. IUP won the battle on the boards 48-to-31, forced Pitt-Bradford into 25 turnovers, and had eight blocked shots.
 
IUP improved to 3-1 on the year with the win. This game counted as an exhibition for Division III Pitt-Bradford.
