CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Crimson Hawks opened with two doubles victories but couldn't keep the momentum going as they lost to Case Western Reserve by a score of 7-2 Saturday night.
Case Western Reserve is the 16th-ranked team in Division III. The teams played by Division III rules as each doubles match counted for one point.
Laura Dunarova and
Maria Magraner picked up IUP's first victory with an 8-4 win at the No. 3 doubles spot.
Julia Newman and
Mariana Valenzuela then paired for an 8-7 victory at No. 2 as the Crimson Hawks took a 2-1 lead into singles play.
IUP's closest singles match came at No. 1 as
Katya Minchenkova was edged in three sets by scores of 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (7-4).

The Crimson Hawks officially return to the court in two weeks with their annual spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina. IUP has four matches scheduled March 11-15.
