HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. –
Mariana Valenzuela and
Maria Magraner posted singles wins in the Crimson Hawks' 5-2 loss to Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday morning at Spring Tennis Fest.
The pair picked up victories at five and six singles, respectively, with Valenzuela rallying for a long three-set win. After a 2-6 opening set loss, she came back for wins of 6-3 and 11-9 to get the point.
Magraner followed with a relatively easier 6-4, 6-3 victory at five before
Laura Dunarova nearly made it three straight singles wins. She took the first set 7-6 (7-4), but her opponent Odette Beagire followed with wins of 7-5 and 13-11.
In doubles play, Dunarova and Magraner won at third doubles by a score of 6-3. Missouri-St. Louis (3-2) took the doubles point, however, with wins at one and two.
With the match loss the Crimson Hawks drop to 3-3 overall including a split of their first two games in Hilton Head. Missouri-St. Louis is the sixth-ranked team in the strong Midwest Region.

The Crimson Hawks continue their trip with a match against Division I George Mason (7-3) Thursday at noon. They wrap up their week Friday against Nebraska Kearney.
