HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – IUP's challenging Spring Tennis Fest schedule continued as the Crimson Hawks fell to Division I George Mason 6-1 Thursday afternoon.
The Crimson Hawks' lone victory came from
Julia Newman at the second singles spot. She rallied for a 3-6, 7-6 (7-3), 10-7 victory over George Mason's Brianna Gibbs.
It was Newman's team-leading 13th singles win of the year.
Laura Dunarova had a close loss at the third spot, also going to three sets but eventually falling to Hannah Yang by a score of 6-1, 4-6, 10-5.
The loss was the second of the Crimson Hawks' trip to South Carolina following a 5-2 loss to Missouri-St. Louis Wednesday. IUP is now 3-4 overall while George Mason improved to 8-3 with its win.

The Crimson Hawks wrap up their trip Friday with a match against Nebraska-Kearney at 8:30 a.m. The Lopers have dropped three straight, including a 5-2 decision to Illinois-Springfield Thursday.
