CLARION, Pa. – For the third straight match the IUP women's tennis team came out on top as the Crimson Hawks shut out Clarion 7-0 on the road Tuesday afternoon.
The win improved the Crimson Hawks to 6-5 on the year and 2-0 in the PSAC Western Division. All six victories have come over Atlantic Region opponents (6-0).
It was an easy doubles point for the Crimson Hawks surrendering a combined three points across the three matches.
Laura Dunarova and
Maria Magraner opened with a 6-1 win at No. 3,
Julia Newman and
Mariana Valenzuela then won 6-0 at No. 2, and
Katya Minchenkova and
Thais Andreotti finished with a 6-2 win at No. 1.
Three of IUP's singles victories came by scores of 6-0, 6-0, including Newman at No. 2, Dunarova at No. 3 and Andreotti at No. 4.
Valenzuela and Magraner added easy wins of 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5 and 6-0, 6-1 at No. 6, respectively. Minchenkova wrapped things up with a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 1.

The Crimson Hawks will start a string of six straight matches away from home this weekend with contests against Grand Valley State and Wayne State in Stow, Ohio.
