STOW, Ohio – A shorthanded IUP women's tennis squad lost its second match of the weekend to a ranked opponent as No. 20 Wayne State defeated the Crimson Hawks 7-0 Sunday afternoon at La Tuchie Tennis Center.
The loss drops the Crimson Hawks to 6-7 overall on the season while Wayne State improves to 19-5.
The Warriors picked up the doubles point with three wins.
Katya Minchenkova and
Thais Andreotti had the closest match with a 6-4 loss at No. 1.
Andreotti was forced to move up a spot to No. 3 in singles play and put together IUP's most competitive match. After a 6-4 win in the opening set, Andreotti lost by scores of 7-5 and 10-5 to Wayne State's Linda Liong.
