Ana Hollen named 2018-19 IUP Women’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year

INDIANA, Pa. – Senior women's basketball guard Ana Hollen was named the 2018-19 IUP Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, announced Monday, June 17 by the IUP Athletic Department.

The award is part of the Crimson & Gray Awards, which recognize the top athletes, coaches, teams and performances of the IUP Athletics season. The Awards are in their third year of existence.

Hollen graduated in May with a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average in exercise science. This winter she earned her second straight Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women's Basketball Champion Scholar Award, becoming just the third IUP student-athlete to receive the honor multiple times.

It was the fourth ever PSAC Champion Scholar Award for the IUP women's basketball program.

Hollen played in 28 games this year, helping the Crimson Hawks win the PSAC West regular season title, PSAC tournament championship, Atlantic Region title, and a berth in the Division II Elite Eight semifinals.

She earned six starts during the season, including five straight in November and December as IUP went 5-0 with a +34.8-scoring margin. Hollen shot 46.1 percent from the field and averaged 5.4 points with 14 assists and seven steals in those five starts.

For the season Hollen averaged 3.3 points and shot a career-high 41.7 percent from 3-point range. She played in 68 career games in three seasons at IUP after transferring from Pitt-Johnstown in 2016.
