IUP announces 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame Class

INDIANA, Pa. - IUP announced its 2019 Athletic Hall of Fame induction class. The class of 11 individuals will be inducted at a ceremony on Saturday, September 21 prior to the Crimson Hawks' home football game against Lock Haven.
 
The public event, which will be held in the Kovalchick Convention and Athletic Complex, will start with a reception at 10:45 a.m. followed by the induction luncheon at 11:30 a.m.
 
The 11 inductees include: Robert Allen (men's track & field), James Ashton (football), Lisa Bonaccorsi (women's cross country/track & field), David Cessna (football), Pawel Glowiak (men's swimming), Ed Hartman (baseball), Amy Hood (lacrosse), Yvonne Niederbracht (women's tennis), Jodie Swavely (softball), Barry Threats (football) and Jahzinga Tracey (women's basketball). Chuck Spadafora will receive the annual Bell Ringer Award for his contributions to IUP Athletics. 
 
The new inductees bring the total to 279 former athletes, coaches and administrators who have made significant contributions to IUP athletics and have enhanced its image and reputation and are now enshrined in the IUP Athletics Hall of Fame.
 
The football game against Lock Haven is scheduled for a 4 p.m. kickoff from Frank Cignetti Field at George P. Miller Stadium. The inductees will also be publicly honored at halftime of the game.

Robert Allen (1985), Track & Field
NCAA Division II All-American (javelin) … four-time NCAA Championships qualifier … two-time PSAC Champion and conference meet record holder … IUP record holder
 
James Ashton (1964), Football
1963 Associated Press honorable mention All-Pennsylvania College as a halfback … three-year starter … led team in total offense and scoring as a senior … 1962 and 1963 teams went a combined 12-3-1
 
Lisa Bonaccorsi (1988), Cross Country/Track & Field
Cross country All-American … four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track & field … achieved World Class ranking in 5K, 10K and half-marathon in 2015
                            
David Cessna (1967), Football
Fullback on IUP's 1960s All-Decade Team ... 1966 Pittsburgh Press first team All-District Small College Team ... at graduation, owned school record with 1,916 career rushing yards
 
Pawel Glowiak (2009), Swimming
Earned All-American honors each year from 2006-09 … still owns school record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.34 (2009)
                                     
Ed Hartman (1986), Baseball
Second team All-American in 1986 … at time of graduation ranked first at IUP in career batting average (.357) and second in career triples (7) … selected by Pittsburgh Pirates in 20th round of 1986 MLB Draft
 
Amy Hood (2005), Lacrosse
Three-time All-PSAC selection … first major "star" for lacrosse program that started in 1998 … graduated as IUP's career leader in points (172) and goals (136)
 
Yvonne Niederbracht (2005), Tennis
2004 PSAC Player of the Year … four-time All-PSAC selection … first IUP player to earn individual national rankings (2004) … at time of graduation, owned IUP career singles and combined wins records
                                     
Jodie Swavely (2006), Softball
Five-time All-PSAC selection as a pitcher and utility player … ranks in top three in IUP history in career wins (62), earned run average (1.66) and home runs (26) … 9 home runs in 2006 set IUP single season record
                  
Barry Threats (2001), Football
Two-time All-American as a defensive back (1997, 1998) … Five-time All-PSAC selection – three times at defensive back, twice as returner … 10.2 career punt return average is fifth at IUP\
                  
Jahzinga Tracey (2009), Basketball
Best player in program history … two-time All-American (2008, 2009) … two-time PSAC West Player of the Year … IUP's all-time leader in points (2101), field goals made (889), rebounds (1092) and steals (378)
