INDIANA, Pa. – In advance of the start of next week's 2019 fall camp, IUP head football coach
Paul Tortorella released his current 90-man roster this morning.
The roster is made up of 23 senior or graduate students, 14 redshirt or true juniors, 22 redshirt of true sophomores, and 31 redshirt or true freshman eligible players.
The Crimson Hawks welcome back 41 letterwinners from last year's 8-3 team, including 17 returning starters. 11 of those starters have earned postseason honors, including former All-Americans
Jeff Arnold,
Damon Lloyd,
Colin McAllister and
JR Stevens.
Tortorella also welcomes several transfers who joined the program during the summer and will report with the team on Sunday, August 11.
New transfers include quarterback
Quinton Maxwell from Ohio University, receivers
Irvin Charles from Penn State and
Harrison Dreher from Lackawanna CC, offensive lineman
Matt Guevremont from Malone and defensive back
Tevaul Brown from Robert Morris.
IUP picked third in PSAC West preseason poll
Yesterday the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced its divisional preseason coaches' poll at its 2019 Media Day. The Crimson Hawks were picked to finish third, garnering one of the eight possible first place votes.
Slippery Rock was the overwhelming favorite with six first place votes. Cal U was picked second with one first place vote.
PSAC CFB 150
In celebration of college football's 150th anniversary celebration in 2019, the PSAC unveiled a list Monday of 150 student-athletes, coaches and contributors who helped shape the conference's rich football history.
Nine former IUP standouts were included on that list, including Frank Cignetti Sr. (coach, player), Chuck Klausing (coach), Jim Haslett (player), Jai Hill (player), Michael Mann (player), Dave Smith (player),
Chris Villarrial (player), Jack Benedict (contributor) and Dan Radakovich (contributor).
