Box Score 2 CALIFORNIA, Pa. – The Crimson Hawks wrapped up their weekend with losses to West Liberty and Daemen at the Vulcan Invitational Saturday afternoon.
IUP lost in three sets to the Hilltoppers (4-4) by scores of 26-24, 25-17 and 25-11.
Freshman
Nicole Peterson had a double-double with a team-high 11 kills and 10 digs to go along with two block assists.
Liv Burns led the team with 19 digs and
Leah Henderson added 17.
Dominica Niccolai had 20 assists on the Crimson Hawks' 31 kills as they hit .145 to West Liberty's .301.
IUP split its first two sets with Daemen, dropping the opener 25-22 before winning 25-21 in the second set. Daemen then came back to take the match with wins of 25-18 and 25-16.
Freshman
Lizzie Virgin had team-highs of seven kills and 26 attacks in the second match. Peterson and classmate
Caroline Walsh each had six kills.
All-Tournament Team
Peterson was one of nine players named to the Vulcan Invitational All-Tournament Team. She finished the weekend with 41 kills, eight block assists and five aces in 15 sets.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks (1-7) are off for 10 days before returning to action at No. 14 Wheeling Jesuit Tuesday, September 24.
