MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – Freshman
Joanna Stralka won the champion singles back draw bracket as the IUP women's tennis team finished its time at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Atlantic Region Championships this weekend in Millersville.
After going out in the second round of the main draw, Stralka won five straight matches in the back draw including a 4-1, 4-1 decision over Salem's Vuksanovic in the final.
In the championship singles draw, senior
Katya Minchenkova advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Mercyhurst Ostojic in the third round. She fell to Salem's Glowinska 6-1, 6-3.
Minchenkova was the furthest advancing IUP player in a main bracket.
This was IUP's second outing of the fall and first in two weeks.

The Crimson Hawks will host the round robin IUP Invitational Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29 at Maple Street Courts. It's the first home tournament under head coach
Larry Peterson.
