WHEELING, W.Va. – Freshman
Nicole Peterson had 11 kills and classmate Leah finished with 17 assists and seven digs during IUP women's volleyball's three-set loss to 21st-ranked Wheeling Tuesday night.
The Crimson Hawks lost the match by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-17 fall to 1-9 on the year. Wheeling improved to 10-3.
There were six ties early on in the opening set with IUP grabbing the lead several times, including at 9-8 after Peterson's first kill of the night. The Cardinals responded with a 9-3 run and led the rest of the way to go up early.
Wheeling grabbed the momentum early in the second with eight straight points. IUP could only get it back to within four but not until late in the set. In the third, the Crimson Hawks lost a 6-5 lead after an 8-2 Wheeling run. IUP battled back with four straight to cut its deficit to one, but a late 6-1 run by Wheeling helped clinch the match.
Henderson also had one of IUP's four service aces on the night.
Jasmine Raudys,
Lexi Hraga and
Liv Burns had the others.
Raudys contributed five block assists with
Jessica Ignace and
Brooke Little each adding three.
