Maria Magraner and
Thais Andreotti each had four combined wins as the IUP women's tennis team had a successful showing on the first day of the IUP Invitational Saturday at the Maple Street Courts.
Valenzuela, Magraner and Andreotti each went 2-0 in singles and 2-0 in doubles play, helping the Crimson Hawks go a combined 14-6 on the day.
Joanna Stralka also had an undefeated day, going 3-0 with a pair of doubles wins with Valenzuela. The two defeated Wagner/Cliffe 8-4 and Kruhlova/Solomon 8-6. Stralka had a singles wins over Ericka Guzman 6-2, 7-5 while Valenzuela defeated Lauren Fadden (6-3, 1-6, 10-4) and Sidney Miller (4-6, 6-2, 10-4).
Magraner and Andreotti teamed for an 8-2 win over Agudelo/McLean and an 8-3 win over Ponti/Guzman. Magraner defeated Luisa Agudelo 6-4, 6-0 and Carleyah McLean 6-1, 6-2 in singles play, while Andreotti picked up wins of 6-1, 6-2 over Raissa Wagner and 7-6 (4), 6-3 over Pia Bruckmayer.
