OBERLIN, Ohio –
Katya Minchenkova was one of four Crimson Hawks to earn victories on the final competition day of the women's tennis Oberlin College Invitational Sunday.
Only singles matches were played on the final day with IUP players going a combined 4-3.
After dropping her opening set by a score of 4-6 to Cristina Hoog, Minchenkova rallied with scores of 7-5 and 10-8 for the comeback win.
Other winners included
Joanna Stralka,
Thais Andreotti and
Idoia Huerta. Stralka's win was also a three-setter, defeating Madeleine Paolucci 7-6 (5), 2-6, 10-5. Andreotti finished off Nidhi Jha in three sets 7-5, 3-6, 10-4 and Huerta defeated Shreya Ramani 6-3, 6-2.
For the weekend, both Stralka and Huerta finished singles play with 3-0 records. They were two of four Crimson Hawks with four combined wins as Andreotti and
Maria Magraner each won a pair of singles and doubles matches.
Up next
The Crimson Hawks take a two-week break from competition before the 2019 ITA Atlantic Region Championships in Millersville September 21-23.
