UPDATE: This ended up being the final game of the season for the women's lacrosse program – in addition to the final home contest of the season for IUP athletics – as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference cancelled spring sports Friday, March 13.
INDIANA, Pa. – In what could be the final game of the season, the IUP women's lacrosse team saw its rally come up short as the Crimson Hawks lost to Seton Hill 17-15 in the PSAC West opener Thursday at Miller Stadium.
The game was being played as NCAA President Mark Emmert made the decision to cancel all winter and spring championships due to the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
Trailing 13-8 midway through the second half, the Crimson Hawks scored five straight goals – two by
Chelsea Johnston and two by
Chloe Borland – to tie things up at 13-13.
Seton Hill (3-3, 1-0) regained momentum with four straight scores to make it 17-13 with IUP adding two goals in the final three minutes to close the gap to two at the final horn.
Borland had a career game with six goals and 11 draw controls. Johnston,
Jordan Kulp and
Katie Hibinger each had three goals while
Victoria Kerkovich had two assists.
