UPDATE: This ended up being the final game of the season for the women's tennis program – in addition to the final home contest of the season for IUP athletics – as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference cancelled spring sports Friday, March 13.
ORLANDO, Fla. – In a match that could be the last of the 2019-20 season for the IUP women's tennis team, the Crimson Hawks came back to defeat Northwood 4-3 Thursday afternoon.
The match was being played as NCAA President Mark Emmert made the decision to cancel all winter and spring championships due to the evolving COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.
IUP was losing 3-2 with its first and sixth singles players still on the court.
Joanna Stralka tied the match with a comeback 5-7, 6-4, 10-6 victory at No. 1, which left
Laura Dunarova on the court with the match on the line. Dunarova, who already has a match-clinching win this spring, won this for the Crimson Hawks with a 7-6, 6-2 victory.
The Hawks improved to 7-2 overall with their second win of the spring.
