BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Coming off a wildly successful outing at the regional championships last weekend, IUP women's tennis did not disappoint on the first day of the 2021 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Individual Championships Saturday at Bloomsburg University.
The Crimson Hawks won all 10 of their opening day matches, going 4-0 in doubles play and 6-0 in singles. Both of IUP's doubles pairing have advanced to the semifinals while three entered singles players have moved on to the quarterfinal round.
Coming off her singles and doubles titles at the ITA Atlantic Region Championships last weekend in Millersville,
Karolin Kirchtag went a combined 4-0 on Saturday.
As the No. 1-seeded doubles squad, Kirchtag and partner
Katy Graydon took down McClusky and Beer of Seton Hill and Negrao de Almeida and Zottelle of Edinboro by identical 8-3 scores.
The No. 2-seed
Natasha Munday and
Joanna Stralka eliminated both of their opponents, defeating Winseck and Duran of Cal U 8-2 and Alexander and Lee of West Chester 8-1.
Kirchtag is also the No. 1-seed in the singles draw at PSACs and advanced to the quarters after defeating Duran 6-0, 6-0 and Hagishima of Bloomsburg 6-2, 6-2.
Graydon is the No. 2-seed and easily dispatched of first round opponent Walder of Shippensburg by a score of 6-0, 6-1 before defeating Pallamreddy of Edinboro 6-3, 6-4.
Munday, the No. 4-seed, advanced with a 6-0, 6-0 win over McClusky and a 6-0, 6-1 win over Quackenbush of Bloomsburg.

The second day of the PSAC championships starts with the semifinal round of the doubles bracket at 9 a.m. Singles quarters will start at 10:45 a.m.
