Pair of home weekend matches await Crimson Hawks

INDIANA, Pa. – IUP women's volleyball will host a weekend homestand at the Kovalchick Complex with matches against Slippery Rock on Friday (7 p.m.) and Cal U on Saturday (2 p.m.).

The Crimson Hawks are 10-9 overall and enter the weekend seventh in the division with a 1-3 PSAC record. Slippery Rock is 4-13 (1-3) while the Vulcans are 7-6 (2-2).

Last time out
>> The Crimson Hawks went 2-1 last week with a non-conference sweep of Salem and a 5-set comeback victory at Mercyhurst. IUP also lost to Edinboro in three. 
>> IUP posted its second 5-set victory in a week with its victory in Erie on Saturday. Three Hawks had 14.5-point nights, including Kylie Osborn, Caroline Walsh, and Nicole Peterson.
>> Several Hawks contributed in the easy Tuesday sweep of Salem, including Lexi Hraga who had 13 points in two sets, including a career-high eight service aces. 

Notes
>> This is the first home weekend for the Hawks since the season-opening tournament at the beginning of September. 
>> IUP is 4-3 at home this season, including 0-1 in divisional play. 
>> It will be the first of two matches each against division rivals Slippery Rock and Cal U. 
>> The Hawks have split their last eight matches with SRU dating back to 2014 and are 6-6 against the Vulcans during that same time frame.
>> Slippery Rock enters the weekend 4-13 and tied with IUP with a 1-3 divisional record. the Vulcans are 7-6 and one of four teams tied for third in the standings with an even 2-2 PSAC West record.
>> IUP is 3-1 in its last four matches with 41 service aces in 16 sets during that time. The Hawks are third in the PSAC with 2.03 aces per set, with Kylie Osborn posting a team-best 30 aces on the year.
>> Junior middle Caroline Walsh continues to be one of the PSACs top hitters, ranking third with a .322 hitting percentage. Over the last three matches she's hitting .454 with 24 kills.
