CLARION, Pa. - Receiver
Duane Brown totaled 212 yards and six Crimson Hawks scored touchdowns as the IUP football team ruined Clarion's Homecoming with a 58-21 blowout victory Saturday at Memorial Field.
The win was the third straight for the Crimson Hawks, who improved to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division, tied with rivals Cal U and Slippery Rock for the top spot.
IUP scored in every quarter, putting up 28 points in the second and 14 more in the third to completely dominate the middle portion of the game. Brown had six catches for 137 yards and a score, and added 75 yards on three punt returns.
The scoring opened midway through the first quarter when Clarion committed a holding penalty in its own end zone for the safety, giving IUP two points.
Dayjure Stewart followed with back-to-back short yardage touchdown runs, first from three yards and then from one yard out, as IUP took a 16-0 lead early in the second.
After a Clarion (0-6, 0-3) touchdown, the Hawks reeled off 42 straight points to take a 58-7 lead early in the fourth quarter. Running back
Malik Anderson scored a pair of touchdowns on a pair of 1-yard runs; QB
Harry Woodbery connected on scoring tosses to Brown (14 yards) and
Irvin Charles (7); and backup QB
Javon Davis threw a score to
Daquon Green (28) and ran for a 22-yard touchdown.
In addition to the season-high point total, the Crimson Hawks had their biggest offensive output with 500 total yards - 339 pass, 161 rush.
The offense got a boost from some big returns on special teams, with a 62-yard punt return by Brown setting up his receiving touchdown in the second, while a 38-yard kickoff return by Anderson came before one of his rushing scores.
Defensively, IUP forced a turnover for the fifth straight game with
Nazir Streater picking off a third quarter pass, his first of the season. Streater also had a team-high seven tackles and broke up a pass.

It's rivalry week for the Crimson Hawks, who travel to face nationally-ranked Slippery Rock next Saturday.

Woodbery had his most efficient outing at IUP, completing 16-20 passes for 263 yards and two touchdowns ... Woodbery is now 3-0 as IUP's starting quarterback with 11 total touchdowns - 9 pass, 2 rush - and no turnovers or sacks.
