Crimson Hawks continue season-opening homestand on Sunday

INDIANA, Pa. - The IUP women's basketball team (3-0, 0-0 PSAC) keeps their season opening homestand going on Sunday when they host the University of the District of Columbia at the Kovalchick Complex. Tipoff is 4 p.m. This will be IUP's fourth home game in eight days to start the season as the Crimson Hawks are coming off a 101-35 blowout victory over Mount Aloysius on Education Day. UDC enters the game with a 3-1 record, includig a 61-56 win at Millersville on Friday. 

TIPOFF NOTES
>> The 101 points against Mount Aloysius is tied for 11th most in program history and is the fourth 100-point effort of the Tom McConnell era.
>> IUP's 36 first quarter points against MAC is the second highest for a quarter and the 66 first half points is the fifth best mark. 
>> IUP and UDC have met eight previous times with the Hawks owning a 5-3 lead in the series. They most recently faced off early in the 2019-20 season with IUP winning ugly, 39-34 in DC. 
>> The 74 combined points in that game is the lowest total in IUP women's basketball history. The 39 points by IUP tied the program record for the lowest in a game.
>> The Hawks lead the PSAC in points allowed (38.3), defensive FG pct. (.255), rebound margin (+19.0) and turnovers forced (23.0). 
>> IUP's opponents have yet to score more than 42 points or shoot better than 26 percent from the floor this year.
>> Senior guard Justina Mascaro has led the Hawks in scoring each game and has a team-best 16.3 PPG.
>> Senior forward Maura D'Anna is averaging 10.7 PPG and 8.3 RPG and has a 61.5 FG%. She posted her fourth career double-double against Livingstone (10/11). 
>> Sophomore guard Maria Cerro and freshman guard Kiera Baughman combined for 28 points, 11-19 FGs, seven assists and four steals in the win over Mount Aloysius. 
>> Baughman is third on the team with 9.3 PPG, is shooting 10-20 from the field, and has a 9-1 assist-turnover ratio.
