No. 12/11 Crimson Hawks head to Columbus for first road trip

INDIANA, Pa. - The 12th-ranked IUP women's basketball team (5-0, 0-0 PSAC) looks to end its non-conference slate and head into December undefeated as the Crimson Hawks travel to Columbus to face Ohio Dominican (0-3, 0-0 GMAC) on Sunday. Tipoff against the Panthers is set for 3 p.m. It will be the first regular season road action for the Crimson Hawks, who are coming off an 82-58 win over Salem on Wednesday. Ohio Dominican was last in action on November 16, falling at home to Saginaw Valley by a slim 52-49 margin. 

TIPOFF NOTES
>> Five Crimson Hawks reached double-figures in scoring against Salem, with Fr. F Gina Adams, Sr. F Maura D'Anna, and Fr. G Kiera Baughman each scoring a team-best 12 points. 
>> IUP turned a 36-32 halftime lead over Salem into 22-point advantage by exploding for 27 points in the third quarter.
>> Sunday's game at Ohio Dominican marks a return for the IUP women's basketball program to the site of the 2019 NCAA Division II Elite Eight, where the Hawks advanced to the national semifinal game.
>> This marks the first ever meeting between IUP and Ohio Dominican. 
>> The Hawks again have arguably the top defense in the league as they lead the PSAC in points allowed (45.2), defensive FG percentage (.260), and rebounding margin (+16.8). 
>> The Hawks are ranked 12th in the WBCA Top 25 and No. 11 in the D2SIDA Media Top 25, both released Tuesday afternoon. IUP was not ranked in the previous coaches' (preseason) poll and moved back two spots from No. 9 from last week's media rankings.
>> IUP is also No. 2 in the D2SIDA Atlantic Region rankings, receiving two of the six first place votes. Gannon is No. 1.
>> The Hawks' top three scorers are all shooting over 50.0 percent on the year, with leading scorer Sr. G Justina Mascaro (14.0 PPG) shooting 50.9 pct. Sr. F Maura D'Anna is averaging 10.4 PPG and shooting 65.0 pct., and So. G Maria Cerro is averaging 9.2 PPG and shooting 51.5 pct.

WHAT TO KNOW ABOUT THE PANTHERS
>> Ohio Dominican is 0-3 overall and has not yet played a GMAC contest.
>> All three of their losses have come by six points or less - 64-58 to Southern Indiana, 68-64 to Lake Superior State, 52-49 to Saginaw Valley.
>> Opposing teams are shooting 37.4 percent from the floor and average nearly 19 turnovers per game.
>> The Panthers turn the ball over 24.3 times per contest.
