Crimson Hawks wrap up exhibition slate at Dayton

DAYTON, Ohio - Guard Courtney Alexander scored a game-high 17 points as the IUP women's basketball team wrapped up their exhibition schedule Friday night with an 83-46 loss at Dayton.

Alexander had a huge second half, scoring 14 of those points in 12 minutes of action in the third and fourth quarters. She finished her evening hitting 6-11 from the field, including 5-10 from 3-point range. Backcourt mate Justina Mascaro added seven points on 3-6 shooting, and team-highs of five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

IUP had a difficult time dealing with a hot-shooting Dayton squad, which is coming off a 2021 Atlantic-10 regular season title. The Flyers shot 68 percent in the first half and put up 29 first quarter points.

The Hawks did have a better second half, scoring 29 of their 43 points while shooting 43.5 percent with five 3-pointers over the final 20 minutes.
