Big plays lead Crimson Hawks to 38-3 win at Seton Hill

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Dayjure Stewart ran for a season-high 137 yards and Harry Woodbery threw three touchdown passes to lead the IUP football team to a 38-3 win over Seton Hill in Greensburg Saturday afternoon.

It was a much needed win for the Crimson Hawks, who were coming off two straight losses. They improved to 6-3 overall on the year and finished their divisional scheduled with a 5-2 record.

The IUP offense averaged a season-best 9.3 yards per play, including pass plays of 85 and 70 yards from Woodbery to receiver Irvin Charles. Woodbery finished his day 8-12 for 220 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.

Woodbery's three touchdown passes came in the first 20 minutes of game action as the Hawks got out to a 21-0 lead. IUP's second play of the game was the 70-yarder to Charles, which set up a 3-yard scoring toss to receiver Duane Brown. Brown later caught a 21-yard touchdown pass to give IUP a 14-0 lead. He finished with six catches for 65 yards and those two scores.

The Hawks got on the board again on their first drive of the third quarter as Justice Evans ran it in from eight yards out. The short drive was set up by a 27-yard punt return by Brown down to the Seton Hill 19.

IUP added a 26-yard field goal from Tyler Luther and a 1-yard TD run by Stewart in the fourth quarter to wrap up the scoring.

Evans added 86 yards on the ground as IUP racked up a season-high 237 rushing yards on 37 carries.

The IUP defense limited PSAC-leading rusher Logan Wiland to just 36 yards on 16 carries. Linebacker Malachi Newell had a team-high 10 tackles with 3.0 tackles-for-loss. Defensive lineman Gregory Moore II had 3.5 TFLs and along with Newell each tallied one of IUP's five sacks on the afternoon. Will Mayr, Drew Dinunzio-Biss, and Maurice Feazell had the others.

Up next
The Crimson Hawks wrap up the season next Saturday at West Chester. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.

Notes
The 85-yard pass from Woodbery to Charles is tied for the sixth-longest pass play in IUP history and is the longest since Lenny Williams and Allen Wright connected for an 89-yard pass in 2016 ... It's also tied for the 10th longest offensive play in program history ... The Hawks didn't punt in the game but turned the ball over three times (two fumbles, one interception) ... The three points allowed is the lowest for the IUP defense all season and the fewest since shuttong out Gannon on Oct. 26, 2019.
