Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - Boasting a strong offensive performance led by
Nicole Peterson, the IUP women's volleyball team took down Slippery Rock in three sets on the road Saturday afternoon at Morrow Field House.
Peterson finished with 13 kills and hit .273 in the three-set victory. She helped the Crimson Hawks hit .284 for the match, their best offensive performance since hitting .419 against The Rock back on October 8. Peterson also went over 300 kills on the season to run her two-season total to 617.
IUP edged The Rock 26-24 and 25-23 in the first two sets before putting them away 25-13 in the third.
IUP improved to 16-14 overall and 6-8 in PSAC West play as the Hawks attempt to stay in contention for the fourth and final conference tournament spot. They are currently tied with Mercyhurst (6-8) for fifth in the division, two matches back of Cal U (8-6) for the fourth and final spot with a pair of matches to play. Cal U and Mercyhurst play each other next Friday.
In addition to Peterson, five different Crimson Hawks finished with at least five kills Saturday.
Stefania Anagnostou and
Grace Mangapora each had seven, while
Kylie Osborn and
Brooke Little both tallying six and
Caroline Walsh finishing with five.
The Hawks also had nine service aces on the afternoon, as Mangapora, Anagnostou,
Leah Henderson and
Bailey Flowerdew all had two apiece. Flowerdew also had 17 digs and Henderson dished out 33 assists.
Up next
The Hawks finish their regular season next week, hosting Pitt-Johnstown Tuesday night and playing at Clarion on Friday.
