Lydia Vlachou tallied the clinching point as the IUP women's tennis team defeated Division I Niagara 5-2 Tuesday evening.
The Crimson Hawks improved to 8-3 overall and successfully rebounded from its Saturday loss at Charleston with their fourth road win of the year.
IUP grabbed a 1-0 lead in the match by taking the top two doubles spots.
Idoia Huerta and Vlachou were victorious at No. 1 by a score of 7-6 while
Karolin Kirchtag and
Katy Graydon won at No. 2 by a score of 6-4.
These victories extended both pairings win streaks to seven matches.
Kirchtag earned IUP's first singles point with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1.
Laura Dunarova followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 5 before Vlachou picked up her point with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4.
IUP's fifth point came from Graydon, who won her 10th straight match with a 7-6, 5-7, 10-7 victory at No. 3
