Mark Edeburn tosses gem in first career start, IUP Baseball loses two Friday

INDIANA, Pa. - Sophomore Mark Edeburn struck out seven batters and tossed a complete game, but the IUP baseball team lost a pitchers duel to Gannon 1-0 at Dougherty Field Friday. It was the first of two losses for the Crimson Hawks, who lost game two by a score of 7-2.

IUP falls to 2-24 overall and 1-18 in PSAC West play with the losses. Gannon improved to 12-12 and 10-8.

Edeburn tossed the gem in his first career start. In addition to his career-high seven strikeouts, Edeburn scattered three hits and walked just one over his 7.0 innings of work in the opener. He sat Gannon down in order five times in his seven innings.

Edeburn competition on the other side, as Gannon starter Deven Judy threw a one-hitter and struck out 10 Crimson Hawks in his complete game.

Gannon managed its lone run with a sac fly in the third.

The Golden Knights score twice in the second, twice in the fourth, and three more times in the sixth inning in its game two win. Four of IUP's six hits in the nightcap went for extra bases, with Colin Williams going 2-3 with a double and a triple. But the Crimson Hawks stranded eight runners in the 7-2 loss.
